The 11th joint Hawk squadron was inaugurated on Wednesday in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah and UK Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace.
The event is a squadron for joint training on Hawk aircraft. The ceremony took place at the Leeming Air Force Station, which belongs to the Royal Air Force.
The squadron is an important element in enhancing the joint operational and coordination capabilities between the Qatari Amiri Air Force and the Royal Air Force. It also helps increase cooperation in peacekeeping efforts and military efforts in the future.
The joint squadron, which has the logo of the Qatari Amiri Air Force, will enable Qatari and UK pilots to train together using the latest edition of Hawk T2.
The Hawk aircraft uses a state-of-the-art simulation that works and feels like the latest generation of fighter jets.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Commander of Qatar Amiri Air Force Major-General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai and a number of high-ranking officers at the Qatari Armed Forces, CEO of BAE Systems Dr Charles Woodburn.
