Sydney The Australian government is set to list the “entirety” of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said on Wednesday. Andrews said Prime Minister Scott Morrison intended to list Hezbollah and “racist neo-Nazi group” The Base as terrorist organizations under the country’s criminal code. “I will continue to take strong action to keep Australians safe from terrorism,” Andrews said in a tweet. The Canadian and British governments listed The Base as a terrorist organization earlier this year.“Listing these organisations sends a very strong message that Australia condemns the use of terrorism to achieve political, ideological or religious objectives,” Andrews told reporters in Canberra, according to the AAP news agency.“We can’t be complacent. We know that there is a threat of terrorism here in Australia and that there is a threat of terrorism right across the world.” (DPA)
