Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Ali bin Hassan Al-Hammadi met with Ambassador of Djibouti to Qatar HE Dayib Doubad Robleh in the presence of Dr Fawzi Oussedik, head of International Relations and International Humanitarian Law, and Aiham Ismael Al-Sukhni, head of Planning and Studies at Relief and International Development Division.
The meeting discussed forms of humanitarian cooperation between QRCS and its Djibouti counterpart and ways to enhance the former’s presence there. QRCS held course on International Humanitarian Law and provided office and other in-kind assistance for Djibouti Red Crescent’s local chapters.
In partnership with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), QRCS responded to the mass displacement of Yemenis to Djibouti, by establishing and furnishing refugee camps in Obock.
Robleh expressed gratitude for QRCS’ support and looked forward to stronger relations through mutual meetings and visits. Al-Hammadi promised to resume QRCS’ humanitarian work in Djibouti despite the COVID-19 restrictions, in light of the good relations between the two countries and the growing community of Djibouti in Qatar.
Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) was founded in 1978 as a humanitarian volunteering organization with the goal of assisting and empowering vulnerable individuals and communities without bias or discrimination. QRCS operates both locally and internationally, with ongoing international relief and development projects in a variety of countries across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
