The Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Monday met with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson on the sidelines of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, Scotland.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them, particularly in the fields of defence, security, commerce and investment. The meeting also dealt with the latest regional and international developments, and topics on the summit’s agenda.
HH the Amir also met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
The Ukrainian president thanked HH the Amir for the effective contribution of Qatar to the evacuation of civilians and its efforts in the peace process in Afghanistan.
HH the Amir also met with a number of leaders of friendly states and heads of delegations taking part in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).
HH the Amir met with President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo and President of the African Union Felix Tshisekedi, President of Seychelles Wavel Ramkalawan, President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa and President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian.
HH the Amir also met with Prime Minister of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah, Prime Minister of Lebanon Najib Mikati, Prime Minister of the National Unity Government of the State of Libya Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, Chancellor of Germany Dr Angela Merkel, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi, Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama and a number of heads of delegations taking part in the summit.
The meetings reviewed aspects of cooperation and the ways of enhancing them, as well as opinions and viewpoints on the most prominent developments in the region.
The meetings were attended by a number of members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir.
Earlier on arrival at Glasgow Airport, HH the Amir was welcomed by Special Representative of HM Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom Lord Peter McCarthy and a number of senior British officials.
