Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al Thani held two separate meetings with Palestine’s Minister of Labour Nassri Khalil Abu Jaish and Egypt’s Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan in Doha on Monday.
The meetings reviewed cooperation relations between Qatar and both countries in employment field and ways to enhance these relations, as well as the possibility to recruit more qualified and trained labourers from these countries to the Qatari market.
The meetings were attended by President of Arab Labour Organization Nasser al Meer, Ambassador of Palestine to Qatar HE Yehia Zakaria al Agha and Ambassador of Egypt to Qatar HE Amr El Sherbini.
Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers Khalid Hanafi was also present.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Khalifa also met with President of Turkey’s Presidential Investment Office Burak Daglioglu and his accompanying delegation at the Chamber’s headquarters.
QC Board Member Mohamed bin Jawhar al Mohamed was also present at the meeting.
The meeting touched on cooperation relations between the Qatari and Turkish private sector, investment opportunities galore in both countries, and vistas of cooperation between both countries’ firms, in addition to the investment climate on both sides and way of dealing with the Covid-19 crisis.
Addressing the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa eluded the close relations between Qatar and Turkey, pointing out that the two countries bilateral trade volume during the first half of the current year reached QR2.8 billion.
He also said that Turkey is a distinguished destination for Qatari investors, citing there are many successful investments in many sectors such as real estate and tourism and others.
Sheikh Khalifa stressed that the Chamber encourages Qatari businessmen to increase their investments in Turkey and further consolidate their cooperation with their Turkish counterparts by establishing alliances and partnerships whether in Qatar or Turkey, calling Turkish companies to invest more in Qatar and take advantage of the state-of-the-art infrastructure, investment climate and legislation that attract foreign investments.
QC chairman said that a delegation from Qatar Chamber will visit Turkey to visit an expo about halal industries, assuring that the exhibition offers a good opportunity to explore cooperation opportunities between both sides in this vital sector and other sectors.
For his part, Daglioglu said that the visit of the Turkish delegation aims to encourage further cooperation between the Turkish private sector and its Qatari counterpart and get the Qatari side acquainted with the investment opportunities available in Turkey in a host of sectors such as tourism, real estate, construction, hospitality, mining, food industries, health sector, education, and e-commerce.
He also said that the delegation held many meetings with Qatari companies with the aim to open new horizons of cooperation and conclude commercial transactions, as well as invite them to invest in Turkey.
Daglioglu confirmed the desire of Turkish companies to increase their investments in Qatar, expressing his country’s welcome to Qatari investments, especially that Turkey offers a raft of incentives for foreign investors.
