Qatar’s leading telecommunications company has announced that it will sponsor Falcon Ride’s new eBikes initiative, which will provide sustainable transportation in and around Doha.
The new eBikes, which are powered by clean energy and bear the Ooredoo logo, will allow users to pick up a bike and ride within Doha’s approved areas.
The eBikes will be connected to the Internet of Things via Ooredoo’s network.
The new sponsorship is the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at environmental protection as part of Ooredoo’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which includes a firm commitment to sustainability in accordance with the United Nations Sustainability Goals.
The fleet of eBikes will be gradually deployed beginning in October 2021. The O-Falcon app, which is available for iPhone and Android, can be used to locate available eBikes.
Sabah Rabiah Al-Kuwari, Director PR at Ooredoo, said: “Following on from previous similar initiatives, we’re delighted to be working with Falcon Ride on this worthwhile new venture. Many major cities around the world have clean energy transport options such as these, and we’re proud to be contributing to developing sustainable transport in and around Doha to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.”
Hussain Abdulla, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Falcon, said: “We are proud to be associated with the nation’s leading telco operator, Ooredoo. We plan to bring more eco-friendly mobility solutions to the country, aiming to facilitate carbon footprint reductions by providing such mobility solutions. This is another proof of our ability to work alongside corporates to provide sustainable transportation solutions and promote clean energy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.”
