Qatar University (QU), represented by the College of Engineering, signed an agreement with the US company Baker Hughes to enhance cooperation in the academic, research and professional fields.
The agreement aims to develop and strengthen cooperation in the fields of education and training and to provide all possible assistance within the limits of the specific competencies of each party, to achieve the goals in a manner that fulfils the roles assigned.
Dean of the College of Engineering Dr Khalid Kamal Naji stressed that the partnership expands the channels of communication between the university and the private sector to aid the transition into a knowledge economy. It also opens the way for companies to benefit from the university’s facilities, as well as expand partnerships with faculty members specialised in the field of scientific research, in addition to holding various events and launching initiatives that serve all participants and benefit Qatar and society as a whole.
“This agreement contributes to activating the community partnership, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technology to serve the university and society, and deepening the relationship with the industrial sector towards more cooperation and joint interaction in a way that supports the educational process and students,” he added.
Vice President of Baker Hughes for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, Zaher Ibrahim, expressed his pride at the energy technology company providing Qatar University with turbine equipment, and process solutions (Laser Doppler intensity measurement) to help develop scientific research capabilities in Qatar. He stressed that Baker Hughes supports innovation and research that can help drive the energy transition and supports decarbonisation to contribute to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar University goals.
