the Ministry of Public Health has launched the Continuing Medical Education Program for the National Clinical Guidelines and for health practitioners in the State of Qatar,in cooperation between the strategic planning and performance departments, and health specialties.
The programme offers a series of educational activities for health practitioners in the form of virtual educational tours broadcast live on the information network under the title National Clinical Guidelines.
Within the framework of the practical application of the program, a scientific seminar was organized today for health practitioners of various specializations on “Anemia in Children”.
Director of the Strategic Planning and Performance Department at the Ministry of Public Health, Huda Amer Al Kathiri expressed her pleasure at working on launching this program in cooperation with the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP),saying that intensive and concerted efforts in this program and others will provide resources and strengthen the outputs of operations in this regard and will also help in continuing the provision of an effective and advanced health care system to achieve the goals of the National Health Strategy.
For his part, Director of the Department of Healthcare Professions Dr. Saad Al Kaabi said the Department is keen to assist health practitioners in the State of Qatar to develop their professional performance and upgrade the level of services they provide to patients by providing medical education and continuing professional development activities, adding that it is also keen to support other departments of the Ministry of Public Health and its various programs in order to achieve the Ministry’s objectives and raise the level of medical services provided in the State of Qatar.
A work plan, including many educational and awareness activities for health practitioners and a number of other activities, has been drawn up, within the framework of the Ministry of Public Health’s keenness to achieve the goals for which these guidelines were developed in order to make them part of the daily practice of health practitioners in their various locations with a view to improving the quality of health care.
It was also agreed with the Department of Health Professions to present a program of continuing medical education activities to deliver the content of clinical guidelines to health practitioners in the State of Qatar.
Based on all this, a three-year accredited continuing education program has been established. It consists of a series of virtual educational tours / category 1 of continuing professional development activities / broadcast live and directly through the information network to be recorded and provided in the form of self-educational activities (Category 2 of CPD activities) to allow health practitioners benefit from these activities according to the time appropriate for them and educational and professional needs.
Health practitioners will be able to obtain the Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Professional Development points required to renew their professional license in Qatar by participating in these activities which may also be used to fulfill the requirements for membership of other professional institutions.
