Ali Zafar and Gul Panra’s new Pashto song ‘Larsha Pekhawar’ has won the hearts of music lovers around the globe. The song, a fusion of pop and rap style, is a visual and audio treat and has gone viral on YouTube since its release on September 22.
The song, Larsha Pekhawar Ta Kamiz Tor Mala Rawra Taza Taza Guloona Dre Salor Mala Rawra (Go to Peshawar and bring a black shirt with you and bring three or four fresh flowers for me), features rap trio Fortitude Pukhtoon Core besides Ali Zafar and Gul Panra. The music has been composed by Hassan Badshah and the video’s direction has been provided by Waleed Akram. The song has been reproduced for modern audiences around the globe. “Humble tribute to great people with one of the most vibrant, honourable and powerful cultures in the world,” wrote Zafar in a message on Instagram.
Born on May 18, 1980 in Lahore, Zafar started his career as a music composer and gained popularity with his single Channo from his debut album Huqa Pani. Zafar made his acting debut with a leading role in Bollywood film Tere Bin Laden. His performance earned him several nominations in the Best Male Debut category, including Filmfare. He has also worked in movies like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Chashme Baddoor and Dear Zindagi. He is recipient of highest literary award, Pride of Performance.
Gul Panra is a Pashto folk singer. She serves as the brand ambassador for Peshawar Zalmi, a cricket team in Pakistan Super League and has sung several anthems for the team.
Founded in 2005, Fortitude Pukhtoon Core is a Pashto rap trio comprising Mustafa Kamal, Shahkar Alam Khan and Shumail Alam Khan.
