The Build Your House (BYH) expo will come back to Doha for a third time in March next year, said its organiser NeXTfairs for Exhibitions and Conferences, which wrapped up the second edition last week after having signed deals worth QR400 million.
“The event was held under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, and around 150 companies participated in the event providing various services in the fields of contracting, architecture, and interior design,” said Rawad Sleem, Co-founder and General Manager of NeXTfairs for Exhibitions and Conferences.
“We are very pleased with the success of the second edition of BYH expo and the high turnout of over 8,000 visitors. Moreover, the number of exhibitors, the great interest from the government and private sectors, the participation rate in workshops and panel discussion, and the active attendance of experts exceeded all expectations! Therefore, we are glad to announce that we have started preparing for the launch of the third edition of the BYH Expo on 28th – 30th March at QNCC Hall 4 & 5 & 6 with expanded space to allow more exhibitors to participate, it will also be an international edition with overseas exhibitors’ participation.”
Sleem pointed out that the exhibition included displaying the winning artworks of the Best Residential Interior Design Competition at the stand of Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar (VCUQatar). The competition was sponsored by: JOTUN, Coolex Al Jaber, and Pera Interiors, and the winning students were: Deema Al Muraikhi, Maryam Al Sayed, and Maryam Al Sulaity, while the Raffle draw winner of a 2021 Ford Ranger XLS was also announced. Furthermore, the high turnout contributed to increased satisfaction rates of participating companies, which has encouraged NeXTfairs for Exhibitions & Conferences to prepare for the launch of a new, larger version of the BYH Expo in 2022.
He highlighted that the event targeted Qatari citizens who are looking for ideas and information about building their new houses or renovating their existing ones, that’s why more than 90 percent of the visitors who attended the exhibition were Qatari nationals. A first-of-its-kind exhibition held in Qatar, BYH 2021 helped Qatari nationals understand the processes and procedures involved in house construction. Moreover, Knowledge Sharing Conference hosted 40 speakers to present their insights over various topics, such as design & architecture, building structure, engineering and much more. They also gave advice on legal and financial matters as well as tips on home decoration and design ideas. Hence, the exhibition served as a conduit between various segments of the house-building industry like contractors and consultants, and potential customers.
Sleem added that BYH Expo 2021 has played a role in raising awareness in the local market through the workshops that have allowed building relationships and partnerships with industry’s leaders and specialists. As a group of experts in the fields of construction, contracting; architecture and interior design participated in the event to help clients who plan to buy, create or add new designs and features to their houses. The exhibition has also provided an opportunity to discover hundreds of smart and modern options that are both cost-effective and of great quality for designing, building, renovating, maintaining and developing houses.
The event included workshops and panel discussions to help visitors plan, procure, design and build homes fit for the 21st century with a sustainable future and smart home solutions. The exhibition has also introduced visitors to the various procedures of building their houses including how to get the necessary licenses for construction, the state’s role in distributing lands over citizens, and the most critical security and safety standards that must be considered when building houses. Furthermore, the government entities participating in the event have presented their experiences and ideas, offer advice to help visitors, and introduce them to the entire construction cycle, highlighting specifications and financing a teardown and rebuilding new houses. Thus, the exhibition has become an important platform that connects visitors with contractors, exhibitors, and consultants.
A number of VIPs were keen to visit the exhibition inluding: HE Hamid Reza Dehghani, Ambassador of Iran, HE Alessandro Prunasof, Ambassador of Italy, Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, CEO of Qatar Development Bank, and Saad Khalaf Hattab Al-Kaabi, Chairman of Al Hattab Holding.
