Manila: One passenger ship crew member drowned while nine fishermen were missing in two separate sea accidents in the Philippines, the coast guard said Saturday.
The crew member of MV Lite Ferry 3 was trapped inside the vessel when it tilted and sank on Friday night while docking at the port of Ormoc City in Leyte province, 572 kilometres south-east of Manila. The vessel started taking in water and listed on its right side. Hours later, it was eventually submerged in water, the coast guard said.
Only the crew members were aboard the vessel when the accident happened, and 15 of them were rescued. (dpa)
