The Indian Sports Centre (ISC), a body working under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, hosted a felicitation ceremony in honour of the visiting Indian national snooker team, at the Westin Hotel recently.
The Indian national snooker team visited Qatar to participate in the Asian Snooker Championship 2021. Pankaj Advani, a 23-time world champion, won the Asian Championship 2021 for the second successive time.
India’s youngest Asian Snooker Team Championship gold medalist Laxman Rawat, junior snooker player Ishpreet Singh, coaches and officials of the Indian national
snooker team including Vivek Pathak, Ashok Shandilya, Ravindranath,
Waseem Ahmed, Suryanarayanan and Farhad Tengra were among the players
and officials felicitated by the ISC.
ISC President Dr Mohan Thomas extended his warm welcome to the visiting Indian team and highlighted the role of ISC in promoting sports among the Indian community members in Qatar.
He also congratulated the Indian national team for their achievements in the Asian Snooker Championship 2021 held in Qatar.
Capt Mohan Atla, Defence Attache at Indian Embassy and the coordinating officer of ISC, congratulated the team. He described the event as a great opportunity for the Indian community in Qatar to meet their beloved stars. He also thanked ISC for its support in organising the ceremony.
In his speech, world champion Advani thanked the ISC, on behalf of his team, for organising the welcome and felicitation ceremony.
The event was attended by presidents of the other bodies and senior leaders of the community.
The ceremony was compered by Sreenivas T S, general secretary of ISC.
