Madrid The bodies of seven migrants from Algeria were found on the coast of Almeria, in southern Spain, according to a report on Tuesday.
The four men, a woman, a 4-year-old child and another person have been found on the beach or floating in the water near the Levante district since Sunday, Voz de Almeria newspaper reported. It was not clear whether they had all been in the same boat which could have sunk. There was also speculation that they might have drowned if people smugglers bringing them from Algeria to Spain had forced to jump overboard.
The faster-moving boats used by people smugglers are thought to be safer than the smaller wooden vessels and flimsy rubber boats that migrants sometimes use, although often the smugglers avoid coming too close to the shore. (dpa)
