The Filipino Planning Engineers Association (FPEA), one of the esteemed Filipino professional organisations in Qatar, hosted its 8th General Assembly at the DusitD2 Hotel Doha recently.
The event was attended by Philippine Labour Attache to Qatar Adam A Musa who delivered an inspirational message as Guest of Honour. Messages from Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Philippine Ambassador to Qatar HE Alan L Timbayan and Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) National President Engr. Peter Paul P Dy, Jr were read by Engr Ryan Ace C. Tan on the occasion.
The programme was conducted in strict accordance with the Ministry of Public Health’s COVID-19 protocols. The highlights of the event included the introduction and oath taking of the group’s new members and the introduction of the 2021-2022 Board of Directors candidates, followed by the election proceedings.
Engr. Susana O Nacario was announced as the new FPEA President with Engr Ryan Ace C Tan as the 1st Vice President and Engr. Aurora M Asda as 2nd Vice President. The roster of the new set of office-bearers also included Engr. Shielu L Manantan (Secretary), Engr. Vannielyn E Belen (Treasurer), Engr. Gregorio M Balleta Jr (Auditor), Engr. Maria Fatima F Rafael (Public Relations Officer), Engr. Guillermo Sabadisto Jr (Business Manager) and Engr. Richelle Joy S Lutrago (Sergeant-at-Arms).
Completing the new leadership of FPEA for the term are Engr. Felipe D Catinoy (Committee on Publications & Information), Engr. Wendell C Gacula (Committee on Ways & Means), Engr Nestor C Malinao Jr (Committee on Membership), Engr. George I Catabay (Committee on Continuing Professional Advancement), Engr. Vanessa P Gallego (Committee on Sports & Social Development), and Pinky Rose A Gregana (Committee on FPEA Affairs).
The programme also featured technical presentations as part of the continuing professional advancement objectives of the association for its members. The topics presented were Guidelines in Schedule Maintenance by Engr. Vanessa P. Gallego, Damages for Delay to Completion by Engr. Asuncion V. Lopez and Baseline Programme l Engineer’s Review of Contractor Submittal by Engr. Elvin D Fajutagana.
Another highlight of the gathering was the awarding of LIFE Members and Special Awardees/Sikatunay. A Certificate of Honorary Membership was given to PICE National Immediate Past President Dr Erdsan Rene S Suero.
Engr. Susana O Nacario and Allen L Nacario served as the event chair and programme director, respectively. Engr. Jundee Mar B Tejedo and Engr. Mikaela L Espiritu served as the masters of ceremony.
The special guests at the event included Engr. Mark Anthony P Abendan, president of Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Qatar, Engr. Ruel N Reyes, president of Filipino Association of Material Engineers (FAME) Qatar, and Engr. Michelle Macaraig, Philippine Institute of Certified Quantity Surveyors (PICQS) – Regional Coordinating Committee Qatar representative. Also in attendance were Quantum Global Solutions Country Director Lucia Vernon and Director Dawn Francis, Al Abdulghani Law Firm with Atty. Neth Briones-Soller, IND-PHIL Construction Company with Business Development Manager Marie Geneve Pulido and Pil Daily Group of Companies with Founding President Engr. Felipe D Catinoy.
