City University College (CUC) is a new, modern, and dynamic university with lofty goals of becoming one of Qatar’s leading providers of higher education and skill development. Its core drivers are creativity, entrepreneurship, and research, and it has formed a strategic partnership with Ulster University to offer UK undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Qatar that support Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
City University College, through its vocational and university pathways, provides alternative routes to university and work for both full-time high-school students and part-time workers.
CUC offers the following programmes for which they are currently accepting applications for September 2021 and January 2022 intakes:
• BTEC HND in Business
• BTEC HND in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management
• BTEC HND in Computing
• BTEC HND in Computing and Application Development
• International Foundation Diploma
• BSc Hons. Business Studies
• BSc Hons. Business Analytics
• BSc Hons. Business with Computing
• MSc Marketing (*Accepting applications for January 2022 onwards)
• MBA Women in Leadership
CUC offers students the opportunity to obtain a UK qualification right here in Qatar, saving them the inconvenience of traveling over 3,500 miles to the UK and incurring additional costs such as travel, lodging, and visas. Ulster University UK has approved their team of well-qualified academic staff, who have years of academic and professional experience. Their teaching and learning strategies are designed to foster critical and reflective thinking, research, and evaluation skills that will help students achieve a high level of excellence in the workplace. Each student is assigned a Personal Learning Advisor who will support and guide them throughout their academic career. These Learning Advisors meet with students on a regular basis to ensure that they stay on track and meet their learning objectives.
Undergraduate students can study abroad for one semester or a year at one of Ulster University’s campuses in the United Kingdom. CUC will assist students in making all necessary travel and lodging arrangements. CUC also provides two routes to a bachelor’s degree. Students can choose to pursue an internationally recognised BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND), a vocational qualification equivalent to the first two years of a Bachelor’s degree, or the more traditional academic route leading to a BSc (Hons) Degree.
Since some of the students enrol while already in employment, CUC offers flexible study options. Some elements of their programmes have been designed to be delivered online thereby helping students to catch up on the lessons at any time.
Excellence in teaching, underpinned by world-leading research, is the foundation upon which every quality university is built. CUC’s partner, Ulster University, has an outstanding reputation for teaching excellence and a strong track record in research and innovation, addressing real-world issues of both local and global relevance. Ulster is renowned and respected for its world-leading research, as demonstrated in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). As an Ulster student, you benefit first hand from our discoveries and advances, working with leading academics to develop the knowledge and skills to transform our economy and society.
As CUC looks to the future, the college is building a new state-of-the-art university campus that will be nestled in the exciting new ‘Smart City’, Lusail. It will have 11500sqm of learning and extra-curricular space and accommodate up to 5000 students. Its iconic design will complement the surrounding area and form part of one of the most exciting projects in Qatar. Served by an extensive and growing network of road and rail connections, it will be easily accessible and will enjoy an enviable position close to all amenities.
