A shipment loaded with about 9 tonnes of urgent medical aid sent by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran Wednesday. The shipment was carrying health supplies to address the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, via an airlift of Qatar Airways planes, in coordination with the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Tehran.
The urgent aid comes to complete implementation of the directives of His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The assistance is implemented in phases and there will be additional medical aid shipments.
Waiting for the arrival of the cargo were Ambassador of the Qatar to Iran HE Mohammed bin Hamad Al Hajri along with Undersecretary of the Iranian Health Ministry for International Cooperation Affairs Jalal Naeli and a number of Iranian officials.
QFFD Director-General Khalifa Al Kuwari said that the medical aid complement the great efforts exerted by Qatar to address the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic which had negative impact on the world and caused many difficulties at all levels.
Stemming from the joint international responsibility, Qatar stands at the forefront to contribute to the process of confronting this pandemic which is threatening everyone. Qatar, under its wise leadership, did not hesitate to assist brotherly and friendly countries to contribute to limiting and preventing the spread of the pandemic, he said.
The ambassador said the shipment comes to complete the Qatari medical assistance since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, in implementation of the directives of HH the Amir.
The medical assistance provided by Qatar to sisterly and friendly countries comes within the framework of the efforts made to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, which represents a common threat facing the whole world.
