Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) launched an Eid clothing project in Amanat Al-Asimah, Yemen, to benefit some 800 needy families.
The charitable project, at a total cost of $40,000, is funded by donations from people in Qatar. It is one of the most effective humanitarian interventions with an aim to bring joy to children from the most vulnerable households in social organisations and care homes, allowing all children to share in the joy of Eid.
Prepaid vouchers are distributed to target families as part of the mechanism. Three clothing stores were contracted so that families could go there to choose new clothes for their children.
Somaiya Al-Emad, CEO of Wahb Foundation for Development and Relief in Sana’a, said, “At the foundation, we focus on the community in general, mainly disabled people. Today, QRCS launches the Eid Clothing project for a vulnerable group, who are persons with disability. It is putting a smile on the faces of those children and making them feel they are equal to other healthy children. I would like to thank QRCS for its humanitarian projects, especially this one during the Eid-ul-Adha”.
This year’s Eid Clothing project for Eid-ul-Adha is part of the Ramadan campaign with the theme “Race to All That Is Good.” It comes amid worsening humanitarian conditions for Yemenis across the country.
