Croatia want to give ‘best answer to every question’

World Cup runners-up Croatia hope to salvage their Euro 2020 campaign in an all-or-nothing Group D clash with Scotland on Tuesday.
“What’s missing is the result that gives us a boost in self-confidence,” striker Bruno Petkovic said Sunday.
Croatia lost 1-0 to England and drew 1-1 with the Czech Republic in Group D and must win in Glasgow to have any chance of reaching the last 16.
Asked if Scotland’s passion and fight would prove a challenge, Petkovic said: “The game will give the best answer to every question.” Croatia’s golden generation might be fading but hopes remain high around star captain Luka Modric.
“We have to give 100 per cent in the last match and get three points,” said defender Josko Gvardiol.

Scotland’s Billy Gilmour testing positive for the coronavirus has however unsettled Croatia. “We are worried but unfortunately we have to play this game tomorrow,” coach Zlatko Dalic said on Monday.
“Before the Euros we knew that the third game would be decisive,” said Dalic.
“It’s the last chance. We want to take it.”
Dalic’s team moved their planned base from Scotland to Croatia to prevent the possible isolation of the entire squad in the event of a coronavirus case due to local laws.
But he pointed out the tournament’s pan-continental nature handed some an advantage. “We travel every three days, that is not a good condition,” he said.
“The conditions should be the same for everyone. It’s not the same for everyone.”
