Berlin: France midfielder Ousmane Dembele has been ruled out of the rest of the Euros with a knee injury, the French Football Federation said on Monday. Barcelona’s Dembele came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw in Hungary on Saturday, hitting the post in a lively display before being forced off just before the end.
“He underwent X-ray examinations in a Budapest hospital on Sunday evening. The recovery time is incompatible with his retention in the squad currently competing at Euro 2020,” a statement said.
“After talking with the player and doctor Franck Le Gall, coach Didier Deschamps accepted Ousmane Dembele’s withdrawal.” France top Group F on four points and meet Portugal on Wednesday as the world champions look to confirm their spot in the last 16. (DPA)
