Copenhagen Children in Denmark between the ages of 12 and 15 should be the next group to be offered a coronavirus vaccine after all other vaccination groups over 16 have had their turn, the Danish Health Authority recommended on Thursday.
Based on the current vaccination schedule, that will likely happen in September.
The director of the authority, Soren Brostrom, said the initiative was first and foremost meant to increase immunity levels within the population, which will help keep the pandemic under control come winter. He added that the vaccine offer was completely voluntary.
The EU’s drug regulator signed off on the use of BioNTech-Pfizer jabs for children as young as 12 in May. The Danish authorities expect the other vaccines to also receive EU approval for minors at some point. (dpa)
