The Unified Standing Committee for the Selection of Candidates for Military Officers on Thursday announced the start of personal interviews for applicants starting from Saturday, which will continue until the completion of the interview of all applicants, according to the announced conditions and controls.
Head of the Unified Standing Committee Staff Brigadier General Nasser Abdulrahman Al-Jaber said the process of unifying the interview of military officer candidates is a step aimed at unifying efforts and reducing the burden on applicants [by bringing them] under one umbrella, which includes five military entities: The Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Interior, the State Security Apparatus, Lekhwiya Force, and the Amiri Guard. The selection committee comprises qualified and experienced representatives from these bodies.
He stressed that the committee aims to select the most appropriate applicants to join the military authorities, according to the needs of each party and the conditions and criteria that were published via the committee’s electronic link.
He pointed out that the committee started interviewing high school graduates and graduates of foreign private schools from last year, and will resume interviews with government high school graduates for the current year 2021 after the results of high school are announced.
He noted that the committee is keen to ensure equality and equal opportunities, achieve justice and choose the appropriate officers who meet the conditions and standards of the military authorities.
For his part, representative of the Ministry of Interior and rapporteur of the committee Lieutenant Colonel Dr Jaber Hammoud Al-Nuaimi stressed that the experience achieved by the committee over the years will ensure appropriate outcomes for the selection process.
He pointed out that the committee aims to provide equal opportunities for student applicants, according to accurate and transparent criteria in the selection process. It is in the belief that the human element is the leading force of sustainable development and counts on this generation moving forward in achieving the best for the country in order to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030, he said. He stressed that the high turnout of students to join the military, numbering nearly 3000 applicants, indicates the students’ and parents’ keenness to serve their country.
