The Cabinet has praised His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s speech at the main session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2021) in Russia.
The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, also hailed speech and its implications for the Qatari-Russian relations, international cooperation and finding effective solutions to common economic challenges, especially in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cabinet also praised HH the Amir’s important intervention in the forum’s discussion session and the visions and ideas he presented in the fields of the future of energy, environmental protection, sports, and HH the Amir’s vision of a world after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cabinet affirmed that the participation of HH the Amir in the forum, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the selection of Qatar as the guest country , its high-level participation, and the agreements and memoranda of understanding that were signed during it, reflected the depth of the relations between the two countries.
The Cabinet said Qatar’s participation in SPIEF also strengthened the strategic partnership between the two countries, which opens new horizons for the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.
The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures taken to combat the COVID-19 pandemic after it was briefed about the latest developments in efforts to curb COVID-19 by HE Minister of Public Health.
The Cabinet also took necessary measures to issue a draft law on mediation in settling civil and commercial disputes after reviewing the recommendation of the Shura Council.
It also approved a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation and integration in the field of earthquakes and geophysics between the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and Sultan Qaboos University in Oman.
The Cabinet reviewed the memorandum of HE Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs on some of the Ministry’s recommendations regarding the results of the 340th session of the International Labor Organization Board of Directors, and took the appropriate decision in this regard.
