Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has introduced curators on the new Visit Qatar website. These curators comprise Qatar-based personalities who offer personal recommendations for residents and visitors. They provide tips on where and how to indulge in some of Qatar’s best cuisine, art, sports or luxury retail, highlighting favoured spots – both old and new.
This is part of QNTC’s broader digital and content strategy, whereby the destination is brought to life through showcasing unique and authentic experiences across all digital touchpoints, such as the VisitQatar App and Visitqatar.qa website. Currently available in English, both the website and the app will soon be available in Arabic. While the website offers a comprehensive overview of the destination and its offerings, the app helps individuals explore Qatar with ease when in destination, with location-based recommendations and personalised recommendations curated to the travellers interests.
Berthold Trenkel, chief operation officer at QNTC, said: “As the stewards of the tourism sector, QNTC works with partners to develop offerings and showcase them to a wider audience. Visit Qatar and our Curators offer a localised window into the country, helping bring the destination to life for those looking for their next experience. Part of QNTC’s wider digital push, through this we aim to deliver a superior visitor experience, grounded as ever in Service Excellence. Through coordination with our stakeholders across the public and private sectors, we continue to promote Qatar and build its reputation as a desirable travel destination.”
Iris Wagner, leading digital transformation at QNTC, added: “The curators add an important element to our website. Aligned with our audience segments, they impart authentic insights. Coupled with the 360 content on the VisitQatar app, such on the ground perspectives bring to life Qatar’s varied offerings. Rich and immersive content across QNTC’s digital platforms supports the digital experience, driving engagement and consideration for the destination. We look forward to continuing to reach new segments, promoting Qatar until we are able to welcome visitors to our shores.”
With restrictions in place due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, QNTC remains at the forefront of driving change. Through these digital initiatives, locals and visitors can easily stay abreast of new offerings across Qatar. The curators include Mashal Al Naimi, a Qatari motorcyclist, who covers his top sports and water activities. Noor Al Mazroei and Rachel Morris detail their favourite dining options in Qatar. Muna Al Bader offers up her favourite art and culture destinations, while Elmira Kahrobaie selects her top luxury spots. Also included are itineraries based on interest and travel tips from those in the know.
