MES Indian School recently observed World No Tobacco Day with the theme ‘Quit Tobacco to be a Winner’.
The school organised a range of virtual activities to stress the social responsibility towards creating awareness about health hazards caused by smoking and consuming tobacco.
During the co-curricular activity periods on the day, students participated in various competitions and activities such as slogan writing for grades III and IV, collage making for grades V and VI, poster designing for grades VII and VIII and caption writing for grades IX and X.
A special virtual assembly was also held to observe the World No Tobacco Day wherein students gave speeches followed by their solemn pledge against the use of tobacco in their life and the promise to dissuade people from smoking.
In her address to the students, the school’s principal, Hameeda Kadar, said the consumption of tobacco has disastrous impacts not only on the smoker but also on those who are around them.
Teachers in charge of the co-curricular activities Jency George, Mini V and Pradnya Pande coordinated the events.
Certificates of appreciation were distributed to the students to encourage them for their active participation.
