The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and Lean Construction Institute–Qatar (LCI-Qatar) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in a strategic partnership to promote Lean Thinking in Qatar.
The MoU aims to enhance and facilitate cooperation and initiatives of mutual benefit between the two entities, including conduction of educational programmes, trainings, conferences, workshops research and various other events. Additionally, LCI-Qatar will provide free membership of the institute to the employees of Ashghal.
The agreement comes with the aim of achieving one important corporate objectives of Ashghal, which is to develop the capabilities of its employees by making use of the services of the institute in the continuous professional development and development of Qatari cadres in the field of engineering and construction management.
Within the past few years, Ashghal and LCI-Qatar have successfully organised major international events in Qatar. The first Lean in Public Sector (LIPS) conference in the MENA region was held in 2019 with over 220 practitioners and experts attending from different parts of the world, while the first conference in the Middle East presenting Integrated Project Delivery concepts was held virtually with 350 attendees.
