To ensure a smooth travel experience, Hamad International Airport (HIA) has advised passengers departing during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday period to check-in online and arrive three hours prior to their flights. According to HIA, departing passengers must have a green health status on their EHTERAZ application in order to travel. Self-service check-in and bag-drop facilities are also available at HIA, allowing passengers to check-in, print boarding passes and bag tags, tag their bags, and quickly drop them at the bag drop before proceeding to border control.
For a smooth check-in process at HIA, HIA recommends that passengers stay up to date on the travel requirements of the country to which they are traveling. It added that passengers should be aware that check-in closes sixty minutes before departure.
HIA said in the advisory that during peak travel periods, access to the arrival and departure terminal buildings will be limited to departing and returning passengers only for the convenience and safety of departing and returning passengers. Pick-ups and drop-offs should be done in the short-term parking lot rather than on the street.
During security checks, passengers must ensure that they are not carrying any prohibited items such as liquids, aerosols, or gels, and to pack any liquid containers in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag that is 100ml or less. Larger electronic items, such as smartphones, must be removed from bags and placed in trays for X-ray screening. Hoverboards and other small vehicles powered by lithium batteries are prohibited from being transported. Due to the holiday rush, passengers are also advised to travel with their pets as little as possible. At HIA’s terminal, you can also get your bags wrapped.
Passengers departing from HIA should download the ‘HIAQatar’ mobile app, which is available for both Android and iPhone, for updates and to help make the passengers’ journey more seamless by providing real-time information about flight status, baggage claim, time, and direction to boarding gates, as well as food, beverage, and retail offers from Qatar Duty Free (QDF).
Passengers arriving in Doha must show a printed copy of a negative PCR test from an approved medical centre. Passengers are also advised to bring printed copies of all required travel documents for entry into Qatar. Passengers must provide their health status on the EHTERAZ application upon arrival in Qatar. As a result, passengers must ensure that their mobile phones are charged and that the application is ready to be presented.
Passengers are advised to follow the terminal signage or ask HIA staff for assistance to make their arrival process as simple as possible. To ensure their safety, all passengers must wear face masks at all times, maintain physical distance, and follow all safety guidelines posted at the airport.
