Copenhagen: A Danish appeals court on Thursday upheld a seven-year prison sentence for an Iranian-born Norwegian for espionage and assisting in assassination plots, the Ritzau news agency reported.
The man has been in custody since late 2018, when the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) said it foiled a plot to assassinate Iranian exiles living in Denmark.
PET said Iranian intelligence services were behind the planned killings of members of a separatist group called the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz (ASMLA).
According to the charges, the spy collected information on behalf of Iranian intelligence, including photos and footage of the home of a leading exiled ASMLA member in Denmark. (dpa)
