Singapore’s Health Ministry on Monday said it “has asked all hospitals to defer non-urgent surgeries and admissions” after a modest uptick in coronavirus case numbers over the past week.
Would-be patients should only visit emergency departments “for emergency and life-threatening conditions,” the ministry said, warning of longer-than-usual waiting times.  The ministry reported 17 new cases on Monday, 10 of which were listed as locally transmitted, with the rest imported.
Eight of the local cases were all linked to a cluster at a hospital, which the ministry said will mean other hospitals deploying “load balancing measures,” or reallocating resources to care for patients.
