Kabul At least 15 members of the Afghan security forces were killed in Taliban attacks in two provinces in the west of the country, local officials said on Monday.
At least seven soldiers were killed in an attack against an army outpost in Farah province, provincial governor Taj Mohammad Jahid told dpa.
According to several officials, the militants blew up an outpost in Shiwan village of Bala Buluk district by laying explosives underground in a tunnel they had dug from a nearby house.
One soldier was taken captive by the militants; several others escaped to the closest army base, the officials said.
The Taliban claimed the attack saying they had seized weapons from the checkpoint.
In the meantime, over a hundred Taliban fighters launched an attack overnight in the Farsi district of Herat province, detonating two car bombs, officials said. (dpa)
