Top officialscTypeface:> Real Madrid president Florentino Perez as chairman, deputies are Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli and Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer.
Participating teamscTypeface:> 20 teams in all. Three additional teams are to join the 12 as permanent members. The other five are to qualify based on previous results, with no further details given at this stage.
Format: The teams play a home and away group stage in two groups of 10 teams, guaranteeing each team 18 games. The top three qualify for the quarter-finals, the fourth- and fifth-placed teams from each group determine a fourth qualifier in a two-legged play-off. Quarter- and semi-finals in two legs each and one final on a neutral ground.
DatescTypeface:> The Super League is to start from next season and run from August until May. All matches apart from the final are to take place in mid-week. That would be in direct competition to the Champions League but won’t overlap with domestic championships where the Super League clubs want to continue playing.
