The Qatar University (QU) team competed in the first edition of the Gulf Debating Championship for Universities in the Arabic Language, which was hosted by Kuwait University from March 20-22, 2021.
Three members of the Arab Debating Club were on the QU team (Ahmad Al-Sumaini - Abdul Rahman Al-Qadimi - Muhammad Al-Yafei).
The QU team that competed made it to the quarter-final round. The club won the individual awards for ‘the best speaker of the tournament,’ which was
won by Muhammad Al-Yafei of the Arabic Debating Club team.
Abdullah Al-Mulla, Director of Student Activities Department, said, “We are proud of our students’ achievements. Especially noteworthy are the accomplishments of the debating club team that participated in the Gulf Debating Championship.”
“These extracurricular activities are clear examples of their contribution to refining the student’s personality with capabilities and competencies that enable them to face challenges, build relationships, and deal with the virtual digital world in a more professional manner,” Al-Mulla added.
