The number of daily COVID-19 infections in Qatar dropped on Saturday after staying over 970 for many days.
Qatar on Saturday reported 827 COVID-19 cases — 579 from community and 248 from travellers returning from abroad, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said in its daily report.
On Friday there were 978 cases, on Thursday 989, and on Wednesday 984 cases.
Also, 659 people recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in Qatar to 173,257.
Sadly, nine people aged 44, 45, 53, 59, 60, 65, 70, 76 and 83 years succumbed to the virus. Seven of them had a history of chronic disease. All were receiving the necessary medical care.
The MoPH said a total of 1,225,110 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. As many as 15,462 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours, it added.
