Qatar University’s Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (QU-SESRI) conducted a survey of agricultural productivity and costs.
This survey was based on an understanding reached between the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Qatar University 2020, which included the implementation of the agricultural census in Qatar 2021, the first phase of which was completed successfully.
The survey’s field work began on April 8, 2021, and the survey’s results will aid in a thorough understanding of the cost of crop composition and livestock care based on various stages and activities. Second, the survey will provide an accurate estimate of crop production, livestock size and dynamism, and herd movement in Qatar.
The study’s findings will help the Ministry of Municipality and Environment develop and promote food security plans and strategies, as well as plans and programs in the agricultural and livestock sectors, by identifying and prioritizing the services provided to producers and consumers.
Prof. Kaltham Ali Al-Ghanim, Director of the Social & Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI), urged the owners of the estates, selected farms, and holdings in the sample to respond and help the survey, which is the first of its kind in Qatar, succeed. According to the methodology of data collection, it is planned to last for 40 weeks, during which the researcher’s fields, which include veterinarians and agricultural engineers, will fill out a form designed to list agricultural operations and their costs from the preparation stage to marketing.
