Qatar University’s (QU) Elia Club and Youth for Jerusalem Association organised a talent competition to encourage all the artists of the community in solidarity with the Palestinian Land Day, which is marked on March 30 every year.
The competition aimed to teach about the details and facts of Palestinian Land Day, combining the principle of preserving homelands, understanding the importance of preserving Islamic sanctity and enhancing the spirit of the initiative.
The competition was announced on March 25 through social media and concluded on March 30, which is The Palestinian Land Day, as the number of participants reached nearly 40, including all type of artist such as calligraphy, drawing, photography, as well as writing thoughts, stories and reciting poetry).
These posts were presented to two judges for their evaluation: Professor Ali Emad El-Din, a specialist in the Brand and Creative Services Department, to evaluate artistic talents, and Iman Badran, a teacher with a BA in Islamic law and Arabic language and author of many books such as the poetry collection. The results of the competition were announced on April 8, in which three winners were selected from literary talent and another three from artistic talent.
Muhammad Abdawi, who participated with a short story won the first place in the literary section, Fatima Al Hattab, participating with ‘Thoughts’ came second while the third place was won by Muhammad Al Odaini, who participated in reciting poetry.
On the other hand, Jassim Al Dahshan won the first place, while the second place was won by Baraa Al Zebdeh and Lalla Ahmed won third place in the drawing competition.
