The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and its partners observed the World Health Day on April 7.
The day was marked under the theme ‘Building a fairer, healthier world’.
Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari said, “Qatar provides high-quality health services to the entire population in the right place at the right time, ensuring improved health of Qatari society and providing a long healthy life for the current and future generations in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and our health strategies.”
She stressed the importance of celebrating World Health Day this year, explaining that Qatar is keen to support international cooperation and provide aids to many countries and organisations in support of the international health efforts and to contribute to the achievement of the relevant sustainable development goals.
“The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic highlighted the importance of intensifying international cooperation and concerted efforts to protect the health of the society, as the pandemic affected all countries and highlighted the urgent need for everyone to enjoy their right to good health care,” Dr Kuwari added.
Qatar’s healthcare sector has witnessed significant developments in view of the huge investments in the new health facilities, services and technologies to ensure that health needs are met and high-quality preventive and therapeutic health services are provided to the entire population.
The strength and flexibility of Qatar’s health system has contributed to responding to COVID-19 pandemic according to different scenarios, contributing to the protection of the society and providing health care to patients, as well as launching the largest vaccination programme ever implemented in Qatar to vaccinate the population against COVID-19.
Marking the World Health Day, the World Health Organization has launched a campaign aimed at building a world with greater justice and health and called on leaders to ensure that everyone enjoys living and working conditions that are conducive to good health. The WHO also urged leaders to monitor health inequalities and ensure that all people are able to access quality health services whenever and wherever they need them.
