Qatar Development Bank (QDB) hosted the second edition of the virtual coordination meeting programme under the theme ‘Fostering New Partnerships and Driving the Future Together’. QDB’s export programme ‘Tasdeer’ organised the event in partnership with the European Enterprise Network, with the aim of gathering senior Qatari manufacturers with international buyers and similar partners from around the world to discuss prospects for cooperation and joint work, and to learn about Qatari manufacturing capabilities.
More than 50 Qatari industrial companies participated in this year’s edition and registered in more than 1100 coordination meetings, the QDB said and added that the digital platform for the meetings recorded more than 98,000 visitors, and the shared digital space created by coordination meetings provides many distinct commercial opportunities and fruitful partnerships.
QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa stressed the importance of these meetings and their role in raising the competitiveness of Qatari exporting companies in the international market.
QDB is working to create the appropriate platform to reconcile the exports of Qatari companies with global demand, he said.
“The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has a global economic impact, but with virtual coordination meetings, the QDB was able to create a distinctive communication channel for Qatari companies. Through the remarkable attendance, the large number of meetings and unparalleled interest, the QDB is fully confident in the ability of Qatari companies to compete globally,” he said.
The 2021 coordination meetings witnessed a large global participation with the presence of more than 130 international partners from 40 countries such as the Gulf Cooperation Council, Africa and the European Union, adding the number of participants exceeded that of the previous virtual edition.
Tasdeer Executive Director Hamad Salem Mejegheer highlighted the remarkable increase in both the number of participating Qatari manufacturing companies and the international presence in their various sectors of work.
“Through the programme of coordination meetings, we aspire to attract regional and international interest to learn about the industrial capabilities of Qatari companies, and to extend the national economy with new tributaries, in line with Qatar’s national vision and a diversified and open economy,” he said.
The meetings covered many prominent Qatari industrial sectors in areas such as information and communication technology services, building materials and the electricity sector, paper products, plastic and packaging industries, food and beverages, chemicals, medical instruments, pharmaceutical industries, and light consumer goods.
