Under the patronage of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the activities of ‘Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021’ will commence on Monday. The activities will continue for a year under the slogan ‘Our Culture is Enlightenment’.
The activities will be held under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in cooperation with the Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO), the Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, and the strategic partners in the country, namely, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development (QF), Qatar Museums, the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), and many participating entities in the country.
A special episode on the launching ceremony of ‘Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021’ will be broadcast on Monday at 7:30 pm on Qatar TV, the media partner, Al Rayyan channel, Al Jazeera Mubasher, Al Araby TV, and via the event’s website https://www.dcciw.qa, during which several personalities will talk about the importance of Qatar hosting this celebration, and what it reflects on the state’s efforts in promoting culture in the Islamic world.
The episode will also include a speech by Minister of Culture and Sports HE Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali and a speech by Director-General of ISESCO Dr Salim bin Mohammed Al Malik on Doha’s hosting of the cultural celebration. Qatari artiste Fahad AlKubaisi will perform artistic shows and Omani poet Jamal Al Mulla will present a special poem on this occasion. (QNA)
