PSG Academy Qatar will celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) on Monday (today) with more than 100 females taking part in weekly football and handball activities.
Since December 2020, in addition to the existing girls training programme, PSG Academy has been running free women’s football sessions twice a week gathering more than 40 women who have a passion for sports.
Located in Duhail at The College of The North Atlantic and Qatar Foundation, the programme is designed to give adults the same opportunities as the young players.
Claudine Lopez, women’s head coach, said: “As a woman living and playing football in Qatar for over 10 years, it’s nice to see the Academy growing in the right direction. We’re extremely excited about this programme. Supporting the local community and promoting women’s activities are part of the many PSG Academy commitments.”
Participants benefit from the PSG Academy training methodology which allows them to interact and learn from expert coaches through various drills and exercises. For novice players, this is the perfect opportunity to take part in a structured training environment while learning the basics of the game. As for more advanced players, it’s an ideal way to keep improving.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Regional Office General Manager Fabien Dilem said, “The idea for launching this programme stemmed after speaking with several groups of women looking for more than just a pitch to play on, but a proper training environment delivered by experienced coaches.
“As a reputable sports academy with a strong local footprint, it’s our role to fill gaps and support the local community. Today, we are pleased to celebrate International Women’s day. Although at PSG AcademY, every day is a Women’s day “
All players have access to unrivaled instructions both during and after every training session.
As PSG Academy continues to grow and refine its developmental methodology, the goal remains steadfast - bring everyone together through sports and physical activity.
