The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Department of Environmental Protection, Natural Reserves and Wildlife, has announced the start of field studies to enumerate the meadows in the country by specialised field committees formed by the work team for the rehabilitation of Qatari mainland.
The ministry stated that these field studies began on Thursday by surveying the areas of Mazroua, Al Jameela, Al Khor and Al Shamal.
“The studies began on Thursday in the presence of the field sub-committees formed of environmental inspectors affiliated to the Department of Environmental Protection, Natural Reserves and Wildlife, and specialists and experts from the Department and the Center for Geographic Information Systems,” said the MME.
A specialised work team has been formed and specialised field work teams have been deputed to different regions of the country, supported by Qatari environmental inspectors who are familiar with these areas and the meadow names, the ministry said.
Consultants in geographic information systems, as well as a group of experts in vegetation survey have been hired, along with preparing a special field survey form, the ministry added.
