Ambassadors of several countries accredited to Qatar participated in the initiative to plant one million trees, organised by the Public Parks Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
Ambassador of Peru HE Jose Benzaquen Perea, Austrian Ambassador HE Karin Fichtinger-Grohe and Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina HE Haris Lukovac planted saplings that are suitable for Qatari climatic conditions, as part of the initiative.
Assistant Director of the Public Parks Department at the MME Mohamed Ibrahim Al Sada and a number of officials from the department were present on the occasion.
The Public Parks Department has invited all institutions and community members in Qatar to contribute to the initiative, pointing out that trees are of special importance in preserving the ecosystem, and they contribute positively to human health and quality of life.
