Qatar Cup losing finalists Al Duhail are ready for Al Shamal in their Amir Cup quarter-final clash with coach Sabri Lamouchi saying his team expects a ”difficult match”.
The two sides will face-off at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium on Tuesday at 4.45pm.
“The match is going to be difficult. We are looking for the best result because the loss in football is there, and you have to overcome the stumbling blocks. We must win against Al Shamal to continue in this prestigious competition,” Lamouchi said during the pre-match conference on Monday.
“I am a coach, and I am not a wizard, and I cannot solve all the problems in this short period of time (of four months with the team). Since my arrival, we lost only four matches and played in a great way until the last match against Al Sadd (last week). We lost, but we were the better side,” he said.
“We must have our full opportunity to change the team’s mentality and reach the desired results. I hope we do not face surprises in Amir Cup,” Lamouchi stressed.
Meanwhile, Hisham Ghazwani, coach of Al Shamal, said: “My team is ready for our match against Al Duhail. We are honoured to play the second match in this prestigious tournament. We know our task is not easy against a strong team that is competing for titles.
“We did not reach the quarterfinals by chance. The Amir Cup feature is surprising in most matches, especially in the advanced stages of the event. We know all the teams play to win, we will try to go toe to toe with them without any inferiority complex.”
Al Rayyan capable of reaching final
Marghani Al Zein, assistant coach of Al Kharaitiyat, said his team is honoured to face Al Rayyan in their Amir Cup quarter-final clash.
“It will be a difficult match, but first, I must say playing in the Amir Cup is a great honour,” Marghani Al Zein said on Monday.
The two sides will clash at 7.15pm at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium.
“We won over Al Wakrah in the previous round, and now we will face Al Rayyan, who we lost against in the last game of the league. Al Rayyan is a great team and plays for titles, but we will play to win and provide a better level than Al Kharaitiyat presented in front of Al Rayyan in the league.
“There is nothing certain in football. Yes, Al Rayyan is in the best condition, but there is still a football match to b,e played, and everything is possible,” he added.
Laurent Blanc, coach of Al Rayyan, also exuded confidence, saying: “We are ready. The preparations were adequate, and Al Rayyan won over Al Kharaitiyat in the previous match. Frankly speaking, I am not satisfied with what the players displayed during the game despite the victory.
“Yes, Al Rayyan has the ability to reach the final, and this is what motivates us. We are working every week to improve performance, and I spoke with all the players and asked them to give it all they’ve got” Blanc said.
