The Build Your House Exhibition (BYH) 2021, which was scheduled to be held from March 22 to 24, has been postponed to June 7-9, its organiser NeXTfairs for Exhibitions & Conferences said on Monday.
The exhibition will be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
The rescheduling of the expo comes in line with the recent Cabinet decision to re-impose some restrictions following a surge in new COVID-19 cases in Qatar.
“Changing the date of the exhibition is a precautionary measure… to support the efforts to protect the society (from COVID-19),” said NeXTFairs General Manager Rawad Sleem.
“The strict preventive measures taken by NeXTFairs in cooperation with Boecker, the global leader in health, will ensure the health and safety of visitors and exhibitors. We still have to adapt to the rapidly changing world we live in.”
Sleem pointed out that the preventive measures to be applied at BYH 2021 include regular and consistent disinfection of the halls, exhibition stands and exhibits in addition to other preventive measures.
Areas where meetings and visitor interactions take place will be thoroughly disinfected often, he said, adding that all individuals at the expo will be urged to maintain a safe distance at least 2 metres from others. Body temperatures of all employees, exhibitors and visitors will be monitored every day, throughout the expo, Sleem said.
The expo venue would also have an isolation area for people who show disease symptoms. It would be set up in cooperation with the Qatar Red Crescent Society and the Qatar National Convention Centre, he said.
The exhibition would be closed from 2 to 3 pm each day for disinfection, visitors under the age of 18 wouldn’t be allowed in, and food and drinks inside the halls would be prevented, he said.
“We would also provide visitors and exhibitors with a comprehensive guide to public safety measures, including the use of wall and floor signs to maintain social distancing, and checks to ensure mask are worn at all times and the health colour code on Ehteraz App is green for all individuals inside the venue.
Sleem said NeXTfairs was committed to providing global best practices in applying preventive measures against COVID-19 to preserve the health and safety of all visitors. It makes the exhibition an ideal model for all specialised shows that will be held in the future in Qatar, as it follows the world’s best-known standards and guidelines on dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the continuous coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and the competent authorities to ensure the high quality of the exhibition while adhering to the precautionary measures and international best practices to preserve both visitors and exhibitors’ health.
He added that NeXTfairs would exert its utmost efforts to present an exceptional version of the BYH Exhibition this year to satisfy the aspirations of exhibitors and visitors. He was clarifying that changing the date of the exhibition would provide the participating companies even more time to study the market segmentation variables and adapt to the impact of the pandemic, whether in terms of products, services, or even marketing plans.
Sleem indicated that “BYH 2021” exhibition would be a unique event as it had attracted about 200 local and international companies – under one roof- competing with each other to provide various products and advanced technologies in the fields of construction, architectural design, decoration, and contracting, in addition to the technologies of smart and green buildings. The 2nd edition of the exhibition is marked by the diversity of participating institutions, including the public and private sectors and other international companies. The event targets Qatari citizens looking to build their houses to help them obtain ideas and information about building or renovating their existing ones. The exhibition has also become an important platform that connects visitors with contractors and consultants to determine their options and make decisions related to the construction process.
He added that BYH 2021 exhibition is a first-rate event for designing, renovating and building houses in Qatar, as it has a strong presence locally that made it one of the top events on the Qatar 2021 calendar. The new edition would include the latest technologies and sustainable materials in contracting, architecture, and interior design, especially for clients who plan to create or add new designs and features to their houses or real estate projects.
The exhibition would also provide an opportunity to discover hundreds of smart and modern options that are both cost-effective and of excellent quality for designing, building, renovating, maintaining and developing houses starting from choosing the consultant, contractor, and supplier to planning, designing, and issuing the licenses, up until managing the project with the contractor to handing over keys sustainably and cost-effectively.
Sleem highlighted that NeXTfairswas keen to diversify the participating entities to include government, local, and international companies specialising in various sectors, such as construction, contracting interior design, public services, smart solutions, and supply goods and consultations. That would mean creating an appropriate environment to achieve record-breaking sales directly with the visitors of the exhibition and include a package of promising opportunities for partnerships and alliances between local and international companies participating in the event, which will positively affect the local market.
Sleem stressed that the exhibition would include seminars and workshops, allowing participants to build partnerships and relationships with industry leaders and specialists and obtain a certificate of participation. It also contributes to introducing visitors to the various procedures and stages of building their houses, including how to get the necessary licenses for construction, the required documents, and all the information about the space standards for building a house in addition to the state’s role in distributing lands over citizens and the most crucial security and safety standards that must be taken into account when building houses. The government entities participating in the event would present their experiences and ideas, offer advice to help visitors, and introduce them to the entire construction cycle, highlighting unique specifications and financing a teardown and rebuilding new houses. Therefore, the exhibition is an essential platform that acts as an intermediary between visitors, contractors and consultants to get the best results.
