The SBP Qatar (Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Inc) and Pinoy Basketball of Qatar (PIBAQ) honoured top performing players at a ceremony organised during Game 2 of the Premiere League 2020-2021 best-of-three championship series held at the Al Gharafa Training Gym on Friday.
Making it to the Mythical Team were Tristan Cristobal, Ronnie Cajayon, Kemuel Proceso, Sandie Limin and Rey Solomon. Limin was also honoured with the Best Defensive Award, Cristobal with the Sportmanship Award and Julius Eleazar with Rookie of the Year recognition.
Aside from being part of the Mythical Team, Solomon was also honoured with Most Valuable Player award for the season.
Meanwhile, Game 2 of the tournament series was bagged by Bulacan Starks. Team Lombar, who had a narrow win against Starks during Game 1, fell short by five points in securing their second win. The final score was 89-84.
One of the highlights of the tight match was the moment Season MVP and Lombar player Solomon missed the crucial free throw shots to the surprise of those in the venue. Solomon is known not to miss foul shots yet he seemed to give in to the pressure of the game.
The turnout paved the way for Starks to dominate the match. Starks’ Tonn Dia stepped up for his team in the last period. He contributed 15 points, five rebounds, eight assists and one block. He was named the Best Player for Game 2 of the Finals Series.
Mar Mercado of Starks contributed 17 points and Gelo Parian with 14 points. Limin contributed 13 points while Proceso made 12 points.
For Lombar, Eric Tamayo contributed 37 points, Eleazar with 20 points and Solomon with nine points.
The awarding ceremony was led by SBP Qatar and Pibaq President Pat Carido.

Bulacan Starks and Lombar will see action on the hard court once again for Game 3 of the Final Series scheduled for January 22.
