The Philippine International School - Qatar (PISQ) Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) organised an induction ceremony for its new set of office-bearers at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office - Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA) recently.
Philippine Labour Attache David Des Dicang served as the inducting officer during the event held under the theme, ‘PTA: Enduring the Difficult Times by Standing Together in the New Beginning as One Family and One Community’.
The newly-inducted leaders include PTA-BOD and Home Room Parent Teacher Association Presidents (HRPTA).
Speaking on the occasion, PISQ Principal Jason Iyas said, “PISQ recognises the important role of parents in the academic achievement and well-being of students, and this is strongly confirmed in the annual selection of PTA-BOD despite the pandemic.”
With the limited number of attendees, the induction was attended by seven executive officers of the PTA-Board of Directors, namely Pio Rene Y Tortola (President), Rozier P Egipto (Vice-President), Bhem Ranoco Asperilla (Secretary), Maria Salome I Caday (Treasurer), Ramon Yasser Chio (Auditor), Donna Marie C Elumba (Public Relations Officer) and Roseller T Lim (Business Manager).
The BOD Parents in attendance were Cherrie Ann C Calibo, Jesse M Cruz and Ramon Christopher L Etable. The BOD Teachers who attended were Perlita N Albesa, Karren R Baac, Maria Carmela Seline C Cacas, Jean C Dacudag and Jose Paolo A Quirapas.
Also present were outgoing PTA president Cirilo I Caday Jr; PISQ Department Heads Wilma P Delos Santos, Maria Cristina C Camangon, Wilma P Domiquel and Jojo R Calague; members of PISQ Creative Team, Mike Pioquinto, PISQ teacher, and Julianne Caday, a student. About 119 Homeroom PTA Officers joined the induction programme via Zoom.
In his parting inspirational message, Caday expressed his happiness for the opportunity to serve the PTA and urged all members of the PISQ community to continue supporting the PTA-BOD for the sake of the students. While incoming President Tortola expressed his excitement in assuming his new role in the PTA-BOD this school year and shared some of his plans and programmes.
PTA-BOD Vice-President Eqipto delivered the closing message in which he emphasised the importance of positive attitude, teamwork and commitment for a successful collaboration between parents and the school.
