The Malaysian Association of Qatar (MAQ), the group representing the active Malaysian nationals based in the country, ushered in the new year with a fun bowling event held at the Qatar Bowling Centre (QBC) recently.
Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar HE Zamshari Shaharan threw the first ball to signal the start of the activity organised in strict compliance to the strict protocols set by the QBC Management in this time of pandemic.
In his inspirational speech on the occasion, the envoy encouraged the nationals to keep staying connected and hoped MAQ to hold even more events for the community once the pandemic has passed.
While Ir. Che Wan Khairuddin, Sports & Events Exco of MAQ, said more sporting events are in the pipeline for Malaysians in Qatar such as badminton.
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in communities having to abandon a lot of their social activities in keeping with the physical distancing requirements. The Malaysian community, via MAQ, being a vibrant and active group has had to postpone a lot of events it has planned but has still managed to push through with some sporting activities to promote healthy living among its members.
