The ‘One Million Smiles’ initiative, launched as part of its’ Warmth and Peace’ winter campaign by Qatar Charity (QC), received an overwhelming reaction from the public, athletes, media professionals and influencers of social media. Out of one million smiles targeted by the initiative in 19 countries around the world, the initiative has managed to draw smiles on the faces of 300,000 people so far.
In a kind gesture and in support of the “Warmth and Peace” campaign to alleviate the suffering of refugees in the harsh winter, which doubled their suffering, all the Qatar Stars League clubs held a banner reading “One Million Smiles.
Hassan Rabiah Al Kuwari, Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Communications at Qatar Stars League, praised Qatar Charity for launching ‘One Million Smiles’ initiative. “We are proud to participate in this drive in cooperation with Qatar Charity,” Al Kuwari said, thanking Qatar Charity for its humanitarian role around the world, particularly during these exceptional circumstances faced by refugees and displaced persons.
Al Kuwari added, “Our participation in this campaign is based on the social role of the Qatar Stars League, interaction with community events, and support for all initiatives and programs in cooperation with various bodies.”
On this occasion, he thanked the clubs and players for their participation in this initiative, noting that football, which is very popular among people, can play a role in supporting humanitarian and community activities and programmes.
Abdul Karim Hassan, a player of the Al Sadd Sports Club and the Qatar National Team, said that our participation in the initiative is a humanitarian duty and that we, as players, must take part in charitable activities that help the poor and needy, as footballers in particular have a large number of fans.
Qatar Charity, through this initiative, aims to support displaced persons and refugees in countries facing exceptional conditions and harsh winters, and to provide them with winter essentials, food and other items to help them survive the severe cold.
Qatar Charity urges benefactors in Qatar to take part in the initiative to extend a helping hand to those who are suffering this winter, calling on social media influencers to support the initiative in all possible ways.
