Iran launches sea manoeuvres in Gulf

Iran launched a large-scale sea manoeuvre in the Gulf and Gulf of Oman on Wednesday.
According to the state broadcaster IRIB, a new helicopter carrier and a new missile ship were presented during the manoeuvre. The aim is to ensure more security in the Gulf against any potential military threats from the United States.
There has been speculation in Iran in recent weeks that US President Donald Trump would provoke a military conflict with Iran before the end of his term in office on January 20.
Therefore, various military precautionary measures were taken, especially in the Gulf.
“Trump wanted to overthrow the Iranian establishment, but in the end saw his own shameful decline,” Rowhani said on Wednesday. Trump’s departure reflects not only the end of a “yobbish racist tyrant,” but also the ultimate failure of his policy of maximum pressure on Iran, the president said, according to the IRNA news agency.
