Dr Hessa bint Sultan Al Jaber presides over the Board of Trustees of the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) following Decision No. 14 of 2020 of the Council of Ministers Office on the restructuring of the board to include three new members.
Dr Hessa Al Jaber is a pioneer in the country’s development process and held a number of important positions. She is a member of the Shura Council and the third woman in Qatar to take up a ministerial position in the state.
In 2013, she was named one of the 500 most powerful Arabs in the world by the Arab Business Magazine. Then, in April, she ranked 20th on the 2013 Arab Business List of the 100 Most Powerful Arab Women.
Dr Hessa holds a Ph.D in Computer Science from George Washington University, Washington, DC.
Dr Nasser Mohammed Marafih and Dr Khalid Abdulla Al-Ali were honoured as members of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Nasser Marafih is Member of the Ooredoo Group Board and Advisor to the Ooredoo Group Board‘s Chairman. He was Chief Executive Officer of the Ooredoo Group from 2006 until November 2015. He also served as Ooredoo Qatar CEO from 2002 until 2011.
Dr Marafih holds a Ph.D. in Communication Engineering from George Washington University, USA.
Dr Khalid Abdulla Al-Ali is Director of Higher Education Institutional Affairs and Acting Undersecretary of Higher Education at Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education. He has previously served in a number of teaching positions, including the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs, the Director of the Foundation Program at Qatar University and the Chair of the World Commission on Ethics of Science Knowledge and Technology (COMEST) at UNESCO.
The Vice Chair, Dr Ibrahim Mohamed Al-Kaabi, as well as Dr Rashid Sultan Al-Kuwari, Soud Abdulaziz Al-Tamimi and Dr Abdulla Ibrahim Al-Emadi will also remain on the Board.
In this regard, the President of the CCQ, Dr Mohamed Al-Naemi, said, “We are pleased to welcome the new members to the Board of Trustees of the College. As part of our commitment to contribute to Qatar’s National Vision 2030, we look forward to working together to improve the College’s performance and to providing our students with the best possible educational services. We also extend our thanks to the previous chairman, Engineer Hamad Rashid al-Mohannadi, and to the previous members, Dr Khalid Mohamed Al-Horr and Hassan Abdulrahman Al-Ibrahim, for all their efforts and achievements, which have strengthened the College’s position and supported its educational process.”
