Dr Nayef Alyafei, assistant professor of Petroleum Engineering at Qatar Foundation’s Texas A&M University partner in Qatar, has published the second edition of his textbook, Fundamentals of Reservoir Rock Properties.
Alyafei said he wrote the textbook after teaching the Texas A&M reservoir petrophysics course for Qatar’s oil engineering students in his first semester.
The book covers the basic concepts of rock properties that help students, petroleum geoscientists and engineers to understand the oil reservoirs. Alyafei is a 2009 Graduate in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M, Qatar, who earned his Ph.D. at Imperial College London before returning to Texas A&M, Qatar, as a faculty member.
In 2018, Alyafei was named Alumnus of the Year of the University and in 2020 The Way Ahead, a publication of the Petroleum Engineers Society, was named an Energy Influencer.
