Bulacan Starks team went down against Lombar team in a heartbreaking loss during Game One of the best-of-three championship series for the SBP Qatar (Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Inc) and Pinoy Basketball of Qatar (PIBAQ) Premiere League 2020-2021 held at the Al Gharafa Training Gym on Friday.
Julius Eleazar brought victory to Lombar with a crucial three-point shot with two seconds left in the game. The final score was 99-96.
Eleazar’s stellar performance includes making 28 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. While other Lombar superstars Eric Tamayo finished with 28 points and Rey Solomon with 18 points.
The entire game was a nail-biter with both teams stepping up to bag the victory and secure the lead in the championship series. Lombar almost lost the match as Denver Rote had to exit the game after committing five fouls. Yet, the power trio of Tamayo, Solomon and Eleazar and the support of the team’s assistant coach Bryan Tolentino still made it possible for Lombar Team to upset Bulacan Starks despite the satisfactory performance of its players. Starks’ Kemuel Proseso finished with 13 points, Jeffrey Defensor with 15 points, Sandia Limin with 15 points and Gelo Parian with 11 points.
Both teams demonstrated their best on the hard court which could be a preview to rest of the championship series. Coach Nino Gelig, who played in PBA, the Philippines’ men’s professional basketball league, was among those left stunned with the unexpected turn out of the match.
The SBP Qatar, PIBAQ Premiere League 2020-2021 is sponsored and powered by Dark Blue Energy Drink.
